Washington Conference 2004


The 44th Annual Washington Conference of The American Legion Family was held Sunday, March 7 through Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill.  The National Sons of The American Legion Group Wreath Laying Ceremony at The Tomb of The Unknowns at Arlington National Cemetery (in Arlington, Virginia) was held on Sunday, March 7, 2004 at 3:00 P.M. A Memorial Wreath was placed by National Commander Neal Warnkin (KS), National Commander Neal’s Father (KS), National Legislative Commission Chairman George B. Evans (IN), and Leading Candidate for National Commander Mike Deacon (IA), along with six Detachments to honor our Veterans of all Wars.  Other members of the American Legion Family joined The Sons of The American Legion in observance of this solemn ceremony of honor. A Memorial Wreath Laying Ceremony was also performed by the Sons of The American Legion at the Vietnam Wall to honor the MIA/POWs of the Vietnam War. Members of the Sons of The American Legion participating in the Washington Conference also toured the Tomb Guard's Quarters, along with the American Legion Washington Office.
