Fellow Blue Cappers,

The 2008 National Convention for the Sons of The American Legion will be held in Phoenix Arizona on August 22-24, 2008. Meeting times will be the same agenda as was held in Reno Nevada this past August.

The Convention Golf Tournament will be held at the Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort on August 21st, 2008. There will be a shotgun start at 0715 in the morning and tournament checkin will be at 6am. Cost for the event will be $70 per person and it will be a 4 person scramble. The charge will cover green fees, cart rental and lunch plus one raffle ticket for a cash drawing. All prizes to be determined at a later date. All of the proceeds will be donated to Child and Welfare and The Spinoza Bear Project.

We will be accepting donations to be a hole sponsor. A sign with your information will be posted at one of the 18 holes on the course.

A few side notes regarding the Golf Tournament: Something to be very weary of is the Arizona Heat. Most people are not use to the high temperatures normally found at that time of year. Typically it will be around 105-110 degrees at that time of year with humidity in the 70-80%. If you decide to play golf, be sure to drink a lot of water. Keep hydrated.

Baseball Fans. Come out and see the Arizona Diamonbacks play the Florida Marlins on Saturday, August 23rd, 2008. The Department of Arizona has negotiated a block of 500 seats for the National Convention attendees. Prices will range from $15 - $20 per seat. Seating will be located behind the Arizona dugout. The fliers and information have not yet been disseminated. Once I receive them, I will have it posted on the website. Keep checking for new events. I will try to keep you posted of any new developments.
