Finance Commission
Chairman's Report

Don Allisot

Here in the northeast we have been eagerly awaiting the beginning of spring. It has sprung and many of us wintered quite well and are beginning to shed those pounds. I am looking forward to the Spring NEC, the time we spend at the meeting goes by way too fast and many times you miss seeing friends and acquaintances.

During the winter months I followed up on the Commissions stand with a resolution to support a dues increase. At our fall meeting the gallery was packed with individuals who were interested in the different aspects of finance. This topic seemed of particular interest and many voiced their opinions. The poll revealed that most of the Commission felt that the budget was adequate and there is not any reason to support a dues increase at this time. That does not mean that this is a permanent feeling of the Commission. I am sure that as the organization continues to grow and the economic climate changes this commission will work towards the best interest of the Sons of The American Legion.

As I stated the Commission will be working on the preliminary 2009 budget. All Commission / Committee chairman have been have been apprised of their 2008 budget and given the opportunity to review their budgets and to make any changes that they deem necessary for the coming year.

Yours in Service,
